A perfect Christmas

For part of Dave's Christmas present, I got him a ticket to the Vegas Bowl. I was excited to give him this opportunity, but of course I was sad because that meant we would have to be apart over night, which we have only done one other time. Friday I was watching the Cardon boys while Kelly and Jeremy went and stayed in a hotel. I kept really busy, which was good because I didn't have time to sit and miss Dave. Saturday was a super busy day. The kids and I went up to Evanston to have a family party at Heather and Steve's. I still had some Christmas shopping to do so I had to stop at the store late Saturday. After we got home and I got the kids to bed I was so exhausted I fell asleep and slept soundly until Detmer woke me up. My primary kids were crazy excited at church so I gave a very short lesson. It was so fun to have Detmer with me. One of my primary girls said "he's the cutest baby I've ever seen." One of the other girls gasped and said "what about your little brother?" She said "okay, he's ONE of the cutest." He got so many compliments he got out of there with such a big head. One of the girls said "I'm not afraid to admit it: I'm in love with him." It was my last week with my first primary class and I will miss them. They've meant so much to me. I love them!

Getting home from church I was still exhausted and Kelly came and took the kids so I could have a glorious break. I intended to take a short nap, but it turned into a long nap. So worth it! I was so excited when Dave got home that night!!! I missed him sooo much!!! We went and got the kids and when we walked in Allie saw me first and then Dave so she went "Hi MoDADDY!!!" She literally pushed one of the twins out of the way to get to Dave. She missed him so much. Saturday morning she said "My daddy's going to be here in a second." By Sunday she said "your the mommy and I'm the daddy" and I had to call her daddy!

Monday the kids were basking in Dave's presence which allowed for me to smoothly get everything done for our Christmas Eve party. It was a total success. Everyone had a great time and we even got to play some games. We came home with two tired kids just in time to give them Christmas jammies and get them to bed. Dave and I stayed up for some last minute wrapping and watched on of my favorite movies (The Holiday).

By 9:15 Christmas morning I couldn't wait anymore. We went and woke the kids. Allie was so excited about all the presents. She was making so many cute comments I was excited to get everything on camera. Detmer could have cared less about presents! He wasn't even interested in the paper. Still, I think having both of our precious babies made this Christmas that much more special! Detmer did enjoy the presents after Allie "helped" him open them. The kids had time to play for a bit before heading over to Grandma Steffensen's. There we had lunch and got some more nice gifts. Allie had lots of fun playing with cousins. After that we headed over to see Grandpa "Eggy", Giff, Shirelle, Denny, and Kim. Kelly and her family also got there. The kids had more fun playing together and the mom's took a chance to lock themselves in a room to visit kid free (except spoiled boy Detmer). Our last stop of the night was to see Great Grandma. By this time we had two tired kids but Allie still had plenty of play left and was excited about all Great Grandma's toys. She fell asleep in the car on the way home, but just for a cat nap. When we got home we busted out our new karoke machine and had such a great time performing for each other. Allie loved singing her ABC's and anything else that allowed her to hear her voice over the microphone. After we put the kids to bed Dave and I stayed up for several more hours singing the night away. It was great.

We were so happy Dave had the day off today. We got out all the toys we didn't have time to play with yesterday. Detmer is afraid of the RC car that we thought would be his favorite gift! His favorite is probably his dinosaur that eats balls, plays music, lights up, and spits the balls back out. Allie's favorite gift is her play food for her kitchen. Dave and I have had such good food these past couple days. What's better than peas, waffles, and chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. I love my little family so much and am so grateful for all the great times we have together!!! We left our camera at Granpa Eggy's so please expect pictures soon:)

Okay, so maybe he is greedy!

There is a second tooth. So maybe he's not greedy maybe he's just so cute he got a bonus:) My baby got his two front teeth (bottom) for Christmas!

He also got a new haircut! He was tired of making all the baby girls jealous of his long, curly hair. I'm not sure yet if I cut the curls off for good or if they will be back. I am very happy with the cut. I almost called locks of love, I couldn't believe how much I ended up cutting off! However, this boy still has a ton of hair. It is just not sticking up all over quite as bad. I will post pictures later. I'm not at home right now!

Christmas Fun!!!

We have had so much fun this crazy busy Christmas season! Monday of last week we went to the Christmas Village. It was, of course, a little bit cold but we've always gone there so we had to keep up tradition. We bundled up the little ones and thought it would be a quick walk through and right back to the car. Little did we know it would be a run through, stop and stare at every display, and cry when it was time to get back in the car! Allie loved it! She was so cute and every display she said "Mom, let's run!" So we did. Then when we got there she wanted to be lifted up. Detmer was such a good little trooper all bundled up in his stroller. When it was time to get back in the car Allie begged to look at the displays just one more time! The second picture is of Allie running to the next display!
Friday night Dave's former boss had a Christmas party and we had a great time. We wondered what he could be thinking when he told us his plan: show up at his house for dinner, go shopping for needy kids, come back to his house and wrap the gifts. We wondered if he realized he invited the kids. Well, we were fooled. The kids all had such a great time. They loved playing together and his older kids took care of the little ones. It was one of the most pleasant parties with kids we've ever attended! The kids were up way past their bedtimes but it was worth it because kids and parents had such a fun time!

Saturday was our ward party. Allie had a good time and hooray for all the little girls in our ward (soooo many!). I'm sure no one is surprised that ours is the girl in blue amongst all the red, but it was for a reason. We put her in the BYU outfit to go to Brad's (above) party. He's a Ute fan (although he may have converted after seeing how cute Allie looks in that outfit:)). Allie hurt her arm at Brad's and would not let us change her clothes until Saturday afternoon!

This Monday we drove down and met Dave in Salt Lake. We got Allie all excited about riding a choo-choo (Trax-see picture to the right). She was excited, but decided it goes a bit too fast and started saying "Mommy, I don't want to ride choo-choo again." We ended up at the temple to look at the lights and Allie was so in love with the temple she could hardly notice the lights. She wanted to go inside the temple sooo bad! Dave used this as a chance to teach her a lesson about living worthy, hopefully it sticks with her:) A nice gal stopped at took a family picture of us as well! The head poking out is Detmer!

Yesterday morning we went to a brunch at the home of a girl in my ward. It was really nice but I can't wait until I'm not the new girl!!! Allie had so much fun playing with the other kids there and of course my little attachment (Detmer) was never far from my side. Literally, he was on my lap the whole time. He might have played on the floor but she had cat food down there and I knew right where he would head if I tried to put him down.

Last night I went to a Christmas dinner with the girls (see Hot Sexy Mama's:)). It was so much fun. It's so great to get an ab work-out just from laughing so hard.

Tonight Dave is playing basketball with some guys in the ward. He's such a basketball freak and tonight is the first night. Considering he's been gone for an hour and a half there must have been a good turn out so I'm really excited for him!
Some people are greedy and ask for TWO FRONT teeth for Christmas. Not my humble little guy, he just wanted one tooth, anywhere. And being the perfect boy he is he gets what he asks for! He got his bottom right tooth. Dave and I noticed it on Friday. Yay Detmer!

Hot sexy Mama's!

Yesterday I headed out to the mall for a day of girl fun with four of my best girlfriends. We had such a great time. We started out the day by getting make-overs. Whoa. It was a bit much, I thought, but I did get some great tips. We hit some stores in the mall then headed over to Target for make-up and more clothes shopping. I didn't find a single peice of clothing that I loved! Maybe because of my shopping spree on Thursday. I came home empty handed but it was still such an awesome time! I wanted to find a hot outfit like Kelly, but it just wasn't my day I guess. And I can't wait to see Heidi model all her new clothes. I've heard they are really hot so far.
Aren't they beautiful?

Family Fun!!!

Dave was not feeling good Wednesday night, so he called in sick Thursday. Luckily, he was feeling better on Thursday so we went out and had some fun on the town. We went Christmas shopping-mostly for ourselves. I got some new boots that I love and I couldn't wait to wear them until Christmas! We went to half the stores in the mall, ate lunch, Target, and Shopko. After that Allie was so dissapointed that we had to go home! That girl is a shopaholic! The kids were so good and we all had such a fun time. The day went by way too fast, of course. Dave and I have always taken a day in December to just hang out and it is one of our funnest traditions.

Dave and I have really gotten a taste now for going out on the town so on Friday night we left the kids and Kelly's and went on a hot date. We really wanted to go with our friends to a concert in Salt Lake but were nervous about the "huge storm" that was blowing in. We still had a great time though.

Grandpa Greg came home from his cruise today! We went to Grandpa Greg's twice while he was gone and both times Allie insisted on waiting for him. She was pretty upset when I dragged her away before he got home. There was no way for me to explain to her how long she would be waiting. Grandpa Greg brought home a maraca for Detmer, which of course he loved. And for Allie he brought this super cute little dress. We love it!

Detmer!

Detmer is such a fun little guy these days, although his hobbies are very limited: Mommy and Daddy's arms. Somedays he is okay, others he follows me around all day! I like to tease him and jump from side to side and watch his little arms crawl as fast as they can to get to me. He loves to stand like an upside down V and the other day even took a few steps while doing that! He is so obedient, we usually don't have to tell him "no" more than once or twice. He can still be a naughty guy though. Tonight while Dave and I were watching Survivor, he shoved two DVD's in the VCR! I thought that was more like a two-year-old thing! Detmer is still working on expanding his palate. I need to find someone who needs my baby food. I dump a little bit into a bowl, try to give Detmer a bite, he freaks out, and there's another wasted jar. He never turns down a graham cracker, though! That's about the only food he will consistently eat. He loves to say "da da" of course, because my baby's really like to take there time before they say "Mama". He is going to be a wrestler. Actually he kind of already is! He loves to get pushed and fall back onto the bed. Sunday when we took pictures for our Christmas card I got him to smile by swiping my finger across his cheeks hard enough to make his head turn. This is great news for Daddy. I'm sure before long they will be breaking everything!
The last picture Kelly took when I was still hitting the cheeks!

Allie

Allie LOVES to play with friends. If she doesn't get to play with a friend every single day, she feels very ripped off. Everyday I hear "I go to cousins house today?" Yesterday, playgroup was at our house and she was looking out the window for friends every five minutes. Monday she had Lance, Zack, Brody, and Jace over and today Maggie came over. I would say it's been a great week so far! Allie loves musicals. Her favorite movies are: Annie, Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and lately she has been loving Polar Express. If we were ever home at 10:30 she would love to watch Barney! The girl loves music! She is constantly singing. On Sunday I picked her up from nursery and her nursery leader said "she is so smart, I can't believe she knows how to sign her ABC's." She doesn't! She's just a great actress. If I start to sign the ABC's she moves her hand like she's doing it. She makes me look like such an efficient mom! Lately she has started calling me "Momma" and I love it. "I hold you, Momma." She knows I can't resist it! She's such a great big sister. She talks to Detmer with the sweetest little voice. We call him Puppy and she is always kissing him "hi Puppy, hi Puppy." When he wakes up in the morning I always say "Big Sister, I waked up" and she calls out (she's usually eating breakfast) "I coming." And runs back to smother him in kisses. No wonder Detmer always wakes up so happy! She is getting really good at saying her own prayers and the other day she said "bless Hincky, thank you church..." it makes me so happy to feel like she's really learning things about the Gospel. Athough I can tell she's still a bit confused because the other day at Ben Franklin I pointed to a picture of Santa and said "whose that?" And she shouts "IT'S JESUS!" Oops! Ever since she was tiny Dave has always told her she's beautifully gorgeous and now everytime I get dressed she always says "Mommy, you boofully gigous". Even when I got Detmer dressed today she told him he looked beautifully gorgeous. And if anyone ever wants to borrow her to go shopping...the other day everything I tried on made me look beautifully gorgeous!

Hey Santa!

Yesterday Allie and Detmer got to meet Santa! We had a family reunion and Santa always makes an appearance and brings a gift for each of the kids. Allie was so excited. We went to the mall on Friday and she wanted to sit on Santa's lap so bad, but I kept telling her to wait until tomorrow. Still, we had to go past him three seperate times so she could get a glimpse. We weren't sure how Detmer would do, but we were hoping the fact that Santa bears a very striking resemblence to Grandpa Steffensen would help him enjoy the experience (Detmer loves Grandpa!) and it must have worked because Little Detmer did a great job!

On Friday Dave and I got to go to the Forgotten Carols with Dave's parents, Heather and her family, and Diana. It was an awesome experience. Dave and I have gone twice before but I think this was my favorite year yet. Kelly watched the kids while we went to dinner and the show. We were gone for quite sometime and got back to found both of the kids in great spirits, a wonderful end to a wonderful night. Kelly also had the kids for several hours on Tuesday because I wasn't feeling well (again!). It is so nice having someone to watch my kids for me! I have experienced what it is like to have no one available to help with my kids and it's really tough! My heart goes out to those who don't have the help they need, because on the other hand, being able to call someone when you are sick or when you want to go out and being able to leave your kids is a really big treat! While we were gone, Dave and I both missed the kids so much and were thrilled to get back to them. It's great for everybody!

The Adventures of our Thanksgiving Weekend

We started our Thanksgiving day the usual way with the annual Turkey Bowl. I was so happy that Heather agreed to watch the kids so I could join in again after my two year hiatus. We had an awesome turn out and were able to play some really fun games. Dave took the MVP award for all around skill level. He can throw, catch, and run like nobody else. Good thing he was on my team!

We dropped by Grandpa Greg's for a little bit before heading over to Dave's parents for dinner.
Allie enjoyed the chocolate pie Heather made (left).
Detmer was really good! So much was going on he barely slept but he enjoyed it. He does have a bit of a cold (to explain the yucky nose) but he had a great first Thanksgiving and we were so happy to have him with us!

Allie and cousins were CRAZY by the time we got back to Grandpa Greg's at night. I think someone spiked the turkey with caffeine or something!
The finally got Daddy all worn out and settled down for a little bit! Then we finally had the chance to visit and play some games as adults!
On Friday we woke up bright and early to go get our Christmas tree. Detmer and Allie both had pretty sweet rides. There was barely enough snow to pull Allie's sled! Which was good because if Dave had had to walk through too much more snow it would have been a lot harder. It was crazy to have so little snow up there but it was still plenty cold!
We picked a bad spot the first time. There was nothing! We hopped back in the car and went to another spot. This spot was much more lucky. I think this is my favorite tree ever! We are hopefully going to decorate tomorrow so I'll post pictures of it! We went back to the cabin to have lunch before heading back home. Allie was really excited to be back at the cabin but couldn't believe the nerve of Mom and Dad taking her to the cabin and not going to the river! Being the spoiled girl she is (and also very lucky there was not a lot of snow) we drove down to the river (left). Daddy let Allie get out and throw rocks, although most of them hit the ice, which Allie wasn't too happy about. Detmer fell asleep before we got to the second tree spot and I didn't mind a bit staying in the car with him!
Allie got really nervous during the Cougar game Saturday:
She wasn't sure if they were going to pull it off after the Utes scored with two minutes left (left). But soon she was breathing a sigh of relief! (right)
After the game was over she was a proud Cougar fan! Okay, so these pictures actually took place after we got home Saturday, but Dave thought the story above would sound better:) Dave brought Allie the pom poms home from the game and of course she was thrilled. We went to the Kaysville parade, which lasted about ten minutes. At first Allie buried her head into Grandpa Greg's shoulder because the fire truck came by first and Allie was afraid of the loud noise. But a second after that she was really into it waving at all the people. Good thing she didn't stay scared for too long, she would have missed the whole parade. We then went over to the Kaysville Tabernacle to see the nativities. We even got to sit down for a few minutes and listen to the singers, but that didn't last too long with Allie and Detmer. We got our tree set up (although not decorated yet) and we are ready for the Christmas season!

Go

I finally got some pictures hung up in Allie's room. They are not there to stay because I have to fix the wall (it has about a billion nail holes). But it is super cute, if you don't mind me saying. I'll post a picture of it soon. There are pictures of her and Dave and one of the pictures looks like this:

It is a picture of Dave and Allie at Sea World. Everytime Allie sees it she says "Daddy and Allie at Cougar game. I love Cougar game." Forget Sea World, it's all about the Cougars!

Fun Stuff!

We had a great weekend! Dave and I rarely get a baby-sitter. People often offer to take Allie. She LOVES going anywhere, playing with anyone. So we go out a lot with just the two of us and Detmer. However, little Detmer is not too popular with the baby-sitters. I thought maybe by the time he was this age, it would be better. But now that he is nine months and has been without me or Dave maybe three times in his life, it is even worse. He has horrible seperation anxiety right now. He also does not take solid foods yet. I think the joke is on me as far as this goes, though. The other day Dave was able to get him to eat several different foods. For me, he will do nothing but nurse. What can I say, I make some delicious milk. So Dave and I were going to a party last night and Detmer is far too big to sneak and keep in his carseat. We had to bite the bullet and asked Dave's mom to baby-sit. She agreed and we were really excited to go. Then we got invited to go to a dance on Friday. Anyone who knows me knows that this is NOT something I wanted to pass up. Dancing is my favorite thing ever! Since I wanted to go so bad I had Dave ask his mom if she could watch the kids Friday as well (we would never normally do this, but I REALLY wanted to do both things). I guess that was too much Detmer for one person because she turned us down. I desperatley tried to think of another baby-sitter, but since I'm not willing to leave Detmer with non-family yet, I was fresh out of ideas since Kelly and Jeremy were going to the dance with us. Then Kelly came up with a brilliant plan! If Dave's mom would watch the kids on Friday, she would take them on Saturday. We jumped all over that idea and boy were we soooo glad we did! We had the best time at both events. We learned some new dance moves on Friday, and might I say that Dave really knows how to bust a move! He caught on really fast and did such a good job. We decided we need to keep practicing so we can show off at the next dance we go to:) It was awesome!

We had a great time at the party on Saturday night as well. There was a couple there who had brought there baby and he was naughty the whole time. They missed out on a lot and it made me appreciate that we could leave the kids and enjoy some time with some friends! During the day Detmer and Dave has a boys day out and watched the BYU game while Allie and I went shopping, Allie's favorite activity!

Last week I got a new calling! Today was my first day on the job and I was so excited! I am teaching the nine-year olds. This is my first time in primary, and I have always wanted to be in primary so I'm looking forward to it. I got to opening excercises and after I found my class I couldn't believe how reverently they sat! They were the quietest class of the whole crew. I couldn't believe my luck! We walked to our class room and boy did they trick me! Oh my goodness this is a rowdy bunch. Out of the seven that were there today there was ONE that did not talk non-stop! They were so much fun though. I know I am going to love this calling. This is such a fun age. I love the primary kids! When I got called the member of the bishopric that called me said "now we know you have young kids and were mindful of that." So basically Dave won't be getting a Sunday calling anytime soon. On the plus side, he won't have to fight me over who gets to take Detmer to Relief Society/Elder's Quorum anymore. Our first hope was that Dave and I would get to team teach and bring Detmer with us. However, Detmer came to visit my class today and I realized that would be a bad idea. I was holding him and they all wanted to hold him and one of the girls said "I look at his blue eyes and I want to hold him so bad I'm shivering!" They handed out maps of the ward today so I took it to class and showed the kids where I live, then had all of them show me where they live. Our ward boundaries are really small so we're all really close neighbors. After they sat back down from showing me where they live I said "okay, did everyone get a good chance to look? Does everyone know where I live?" They all said yes and I told them okay, then there assignment is to bring me cookies this week. The girls were thrilled, they all love to cook. The boys all moaned and groaned and asked how many they had to bring. I got home and told Dave what I did and he said "yeah, too bad they'll all forget." Well, tonight I had my family over for dinner and at about seven there was a knock on the door. One of my primary girls brought cupcakes! Gotta love them!

He's going to be sore in the morning!

So the other night Detmer woke up and fussed a little bit, but fell back asleep so I didn't go in his room. When I went to check on him in the morning this is how he was sleeping:
I felt so bad! I don't know if the picture clearly shows that he was sitting and then just laid his head down so he's folded in half! What a weirdo! He must have been tired to sleep like that.
Last night I had some friends over and Dave planned to just keep Allie and Detmer in our room (I figured this wouldn't work, but he was determined to try...) Allie could not believe how unjust we were to not let her hang out with her friends. I kept telling her "my friends are coming" and Allie would say "not your friends, my friends." So OF COURSE I gave in and let her hang out with us. So she would sit with us except for when she'd run back to Dave in the bedroom and say "Daddy, my friends are so funny!" How can I resist her.
Today was a big day for Allie! She went in the potty for the first time. Despite our huge celebration, it only happened once. She got to call Dave at work and I told her if she went again she could call Zacky, Grandpa Greg, and Grandma. Even though she never went again she "talked" to Zacky on the "phone" (her spatula) several times. This was her conversation "Hi Zacky? This is Allie. What are you doing? I went in the potty today." I guess we try again tomorrow!

Detmer is nine months! (and two days)

Detmer had his nine month check-up today with his new pediatrician. We LOVE her. She is so nice and so real. She was so sweet and fun and I'm really happy with the change! She treated me like--well like I'm the mom and I know what's best for my kids. How refreshing! Let me pose a question: Does this look like a baby who has a weight problem?

I know what your thinking. Sure, he's a little on the chubby side, but nothing serious. His pediatrician tried to say he's too small! She said "we won't get too concerned yet, but we'll keep an eye on him." She was right when she said we won't get too concerned! The dude weighs 18 pounds. I think he'll be just fine! He was almost 28 inches (it was 27 something) and in great health! He did such a good job, he acted like it was the funnest part of his day. His pediatrician asked me if he has stranger anxiety yet. I told her oh yes, he's terrible. So she takes him and apparently she's his new best friend because he could have cared less about me! Dang that boy making me look bad:) (PS. Doesn't he look so stinkin cute riding his bike!)

Yesterday we had my family over for dinner. I had planned on having all our new furniture bought and pictures hung, but we're a little behind on that. However, it was still a great time!
Allie helped me make the brownies. As soon as I poured the powder in she said "can I taste it?" She snuck a taste every chance she got!

Her new favorite game is that I'm a kitty and she's a puppy. Where do kids come up with this stuff! She also LOVES to sing and has a microphone that she wears around her head and connects to a guitar. Tonight she put on a little concert for Dave and I. She'd say "and what song?" We'd tell her and she'd sing about one line of our request and it's back too "and what song?" She probably went through at least 15 songs!

What a fun day!

I guess the kids were super excited for the fun day that was in store for them, because they sure were up bright and early! Allie got up before Dave left. What the heck? She came in and laid by me and when Dave was leaving she said "Daddy, don't forget to brush your teeth." What a great helper! Since Dave is going to be gone to the game until late tonight, we headed down to hang out with him in Salt Lake for a couple of hours, the drop him off to go to the game with Grandpa Greg. Allie and Detmer both fell asleep on the car ride down and when we got there Dave and I were standing outside the vehicle talking to Dave's friend and Allie woke up and saw him and yelled "DADDY!" So of course this bought her a ticket to get out of her carseat while we chatted. We went to lunch then headed over to Grandpa Greg's work. Allie decided she absolutley had to wear her Cougars outfit today (she must have know it's game day) and that was a big hit with Grandpa's co-workers. She was quite the little performer. She sang the Cougars song for them and showed off her dance moves. She thought it was the coolest thing ever that she got to go to Grandpa's work! We hung out there until Giff and Shirelle showed up then Grandpa walked us around to make some introductions. He works with Miss Utah and introduced us to her. We were chatting and asked about the upcoming Miss USA pageant and where it would be held. She said she didn't know yet. My dad said "What? I thought they announced it was going to be in Topeka this year." We all chuckled at his joke (because of course what could be a worse fate then going to Topeka when you're probably dreaming of Hawaii) okay so almost all of us chuckled. In keeping with the beauty queens of late the Miss Utah girl gets a confused look on her face and says "where's that?" She'll make us proud! I guess if they ask her a question about Topeka she'll just have to start talking about the Iraqi's:)

One Proud Daddy!

Yesterday our family went to the BYU game courtesy of Grandpa Greg. We had so much fun! Thanks to Denny for giving up his ticket so we could go. The weather was awesome! We didn't even need sweatshirts until the end of the game. Allie and Detmer did so awesome. Detmer sat on laps the whole game and was totally content. He fell asleep for a little bit, too. Onto the proud Daddy: Allie is already a true Cougar fan. When we got there and the game hadn't started yet she kept saying "Daddy, I want Cougars!" She also can do the fight song actions by herself. It is so cute! Anytime the band would play she started dancing.

We got there in plenty of time to attend the pre-game show where the band was playing while the cheerleaders danced. Allie was a little too close to the band this time and she got scared. The picture of Allie with Grandpa Greg shows how Allie was covering her face while the band played. She did take it down for long enough to say "Hi pretty girls" (courtesy of Grandpa Greg's assistance, of course) to the cheerleaders. I went over to her after the band left and she took her hat down and said "Mommy I was scared!"
So to cap off this beautiful story tonight we knelt down to say family prayer. Of course, Allie was saying it. She usually says a couple of things by herself before we help her. Tonight her prayer was "thankful this day. Bless cougars..." Gotta love it!

Princess and a Pumpkin take three and other great news!!!

We had so much fun last night with our final Halloween festivities!

We went to Grandpa Greg's and had a delicious dinner made by me:) The kids were all so cute! Great Grandma came over and brought the kids their trick-or-treat and Detmer was not in his costume but in true Great Grandma fashion she said "oh he just looks so cute I'm going to take a picture anyway." We figured that was our cue to get him dressed. We put on his cute costume and Giff and Dave decided it would be sooo much better stuffed with newspaper. I have to admit, it does look so cute stuffed! Plus Detmer fell asleep in the stroller and he had enough padding that he looked comfy even though he was sitting straight up! It was hilarious! We tried to get a picture with the camera phone but it was too dark:( Allie was supposed to be Pooh, but was still afraid of the costume! I'm so glad we had a back-up (or five!). We went with Snow White this time. It was great at first, she didn't even need her coat. After we put it on it was kind of hard to tell what she was. I did get a picture of her with Kelly's boys but forget to upload it so I'll probably add it later. Kelly is quite the clever girl to be able to come up with six costumes without breaking a sweat and they all looked so stinkin cute! Dave got off work early so he didn't have to miss a bit of the festivities. Allie was so much fun this year. She couldn't believe people were just giving her candy! We couldn't believe her longevity. She kept saying "I get more and more candy!" Luckily by this morning she had forgotten about it!

This morning I really wanted to make it to the gym for a ten o'clock class. Today this was presented as an extra challenge because it was time to get ready and my two little ones were still sleeping soundly. Still, I knew I had too much to do to go tonight so I got them up. At least I thought I was getting them up. I went into get Detmer and he was kneeling hanging on to his crib! So Kelly and I met at the gym and worked out together, then she took Allie home with her while I ran errands. I made it to her house just in time to see Gifford and Shirelle with their BIG NEWS!!! I'm sure this isn't a shock to anyone but we are so happy it's finally official!!!

Giff was having a hard time trying to think of how to surprise Shirelle, but I think he did a great job. He decorated her salon (see about pic) green and black are their wedding colors--pretty clever! There was also a sign that said "I love you Shirelle. Will you marry me?" Giff is not one to be quite so public so this was the perfect surprise for Shirelle. He did it in front of her co-workers and clients! Shirelle is very detailed about things so it's fun to hear about all the plans she has brewing. I love weddings!!!
They are so lucky they got this picture of Giff proposing! Priceless!

You can have your hat back, Steve!

Detmer's friend thought it would be funny to give him this Ute hat, but Detmer does not like it at all!
Luckily, it was Mommy to the rescue. I needed my baby to be happy and I had just the thing to do it! Ahhh, much better! Dave is going to be glad when we get rid of this hat. It has been burning a whole in Detmer's closet and Dave is afraid one of our new neighbors is going to come over and see it and get the wrong idea about us!

In other news, don't leave a two-year-old girl unattended near a bag of make-up! Allie LOVES make-up. I know what you're all thinking: of course she loves make-up with a Mom like me who does not leave the house without make-up (yeah right!). But she is all girl! I give in on the chapstick, but she obviously needs some practice before she starts using the eyeliner!

This last picture is of our fun trip to Sea World almost exactly a year ago. Allie
was about 14 months so we're thinking 2008 is going to be the perfect time to go to Disneyland or Disneyworld. I know, I know. They won't remember it. But imagine how much fun Dave and I will have watching them! Allie was nine months old when she went on her first big vacation (to New York City and Boston) so we need to get Detmer traveling soon so he doesn't feel left out!

Yay Ainsley & Monson!

Even though our cousin Ainsley is far away, we still wanted to wish her a Happy Birthday. We could not get a hold of her today, but we still sang to her. We went out to dinner tonight and Allie loves to talk on the cell phone even if no one is on the other end. So I said "Allie, call Ainsley and wish her Happy Birthday." So Allie opens the phone and sang Happy Birthday to Ainsley! So even if Ains didn't actually get to hear it, she can still know we sent birthday wishes all the way from Utah to Panama! We hope she had a great day. We saw pictures of her birthday and she looked sooo cute. We really, really wish we could have been there! (The pic is of Allie and Ainsley in July)

We also got to meet our cousin Monson today! He was born at 12:20pm and oh, is he a cutie! Dave and I went to the hospital and didn't have much time, which ended up being a good thing because I could have stayed ALL night long holding him. (The pic is Dave, Kira, Monson and the puppy Allie picked out for him).
After seeing little Monson, Dave and I had planned to take Allie and Detmer to a pumpkin walk in Syracuse. It was getting chilly and we forgot Detmer's coat so I made a comment to Dave that I'm so glad Allie is too little to remember things so if we decide to just go home. Well, we had just left the Cardon's house and were on our way to the Pumpkin Walk (Detmer borrowed a sweatshirt and blanket) when Allie said "I want to go to the Pumpkin Walk". We couldn't believe it! Nobody even remembered mentioning it to her. So we drove past the dang thing and there was about 1000 people there so we just kept on driving. I told Dave let's find a house with a blow up pumpkin or something and say "look Allie, the pumpkin walk". She ended up falling asleep until we got to the restaurant so it all turned out okay!

Men in Uniform

I didn't think I had a thing for men in uniform, but check out this hottie. He may have changed my mind;) We had our ward Halloween party tonight. Detmer already had his costume taken off. He was the cutie pumpkin again. Dave and I both dressed up in Army clothes. Not the most creative, I know, but at least we made an effort!

Allie really enjoyed the party. At first she was scared, but ended up really getting into it! They had a cake walk so Allie and I were standing in line but a bunch of kids kept jumping in front of us. I finally just ended up getting in the circle and we won the first time. That was actually kind of a bummer because I think Allie would have had fun doing it longer. However she was thrilled when she got to pick her spider cake! Isn't it cute? People were super clever with the cakes they baked. I couldn't believe how much effort went into it. By the way, Allie's costume is supposed to be Tinkerbell, but I think it just looks like a cute fairy!

Our Park!

It was so nice today! There is only two houses between us and "our park". It is in a great location because Allie can't see it from home. If she could, there would be trouble. She would be begging to go to the park everytime we got into or out of the car. We are going to take advantage of this perfect park weather and go as often as possible. Allie loves to make me dinner on the playground. The other day she was making dinner and we had to bless it! I'm so glad we were the only ones there.

Allie does NOT like the swings, but Detmer loves them. This is not okay with Allie. She freaks out if I push him higher than she wants. And he giggles. It is great. Detmer swings the whole time and that puts me in the perfect position to have an eye on Allie.

On Tuesday we had a Halloween party for playgroup. It was lots of fun seeing all those little cuties in their costumes. I got a couple pictures but I'm going to wait to post until some of the other girls email me what they have because they got more pictures and better pictures. Allie was Cinderella and Detmer was a pumpkin. Okay, maybe I'll post just a couple pictures of it right now because they are so cute!!!

My new ward also has a playgroup for Allie's age on Wednesdays. I didn't go this week because I was out with friends until 1 am on Tuesday night and when the kids slept in until 10 I couldn't bring myself to wake them. Hopefully we make it next week. Apparently we are in a ward full of two-year-olds. Everytime I mention I have a two-year-old people tell us we are in the right place. YAY!!!
